Consider what has separated us from God.
The Bible reveals God to be perfectly holy and, no matter how hard we try, we fall short and can’t measure up to God’s perfect standard of righteousness.
The Bible says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” That sin brings separation. For us to be forgiven and reconciled to God, we need someone to rescue us. We need a Savior.

Recognize that Jesus is that Savior.
The Bible says that the natural consequence of sin is death. In dying on the cross, Jesus took upon Himself our sin and the consequences of that sin, including death, making a way for us to be forgiven and our broken relationship with God, healed.
The Bible says, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God."
Why would He do that? The Bible also says, “God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” He loved us so much, He provided a way for us to be reconciled.

Acknowledge that we need a complete change of direction.
The Bible word for this is “repentance”. It’s a beautiful word because it means we don’t have to continue going the direction our life is going. True change is possible.
The Bible says, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.” Repentance means to turn and go a completely new direction. Instead of running from God, we turn and run toward Him. When we confess and repent, we are agreeing with God that we need His grace and forgiveness in our lives.

Follow Jesus as Lord & Savior.
Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me, they must deny themselves, take up their cross and follow me.”
Becoming a follower of Jesus is about receiving His forgiveness and grace by faith, turning from whatever has been on the throne of your life, and surrendering to Jesus as King and Lord… declaring Him to be your True North.
You can reach out to Him right now and put your trust in the God who knows everything about you and loves you anyway.
